Guiding WOC Through The Process Of Returning Natural

The Belle Bar Organic Hair Ritual #1 – Pre Poo

Welcome to Belle Bar Organic and welcome to your new natural hair practice. We call it a practice because it is more than a regimen, it is a time to pour into yourself and reconnect. For black women haircare is self-care and we invite you to indulge in yourself and the process. So throw on some music, your new favorite podcast, or that film you have been dying to see. Light some candles, prepare your work area, and give your hair some love. Welcome to the family and welcome to the journey.

Oils are your friend! They are always gonna be an excellent resource to bring your hair back to life and the best part? There’s an oil out there for every hair type. Oils are excellent for restoring hair damage because they’re so jam packed with vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and other nutrients that our hair just drinks them right up.

You can apply oil to your hair in a variety of ways. One of our favorite ways is by doing a pre-poo with oil, which is when you apply it the night before or a few hours before you wash your hair to maintain moisture and nutrient levels.

STEP ONE: INGREDIENTS

Potential BBO Products

Onion & Garlic Thickening Ayurvedic Herb Hair Oil

Moringa and Marula Soothing Sensitive Scalp Oil

STEP ONE: INSTRUCTIONS

PRE-POO

  1. Spritz hair with water
  2. Section and pin hair into 6 twists
  3. Apply 1-2 squirts (not the full dropper) of oil in your scalp working your way down the length of your hair per section. You should not have leftover oil on your hands after each section, that means you are using too much, less is more. You are just very lightly coating your hair.
  4. With fingertips or massager, starting from the scalp down to the length of the hair, massage for 30 seconds and re-pin
  5. Cover your head with a plastic cap
  6. Leave in for a minimum of 30 minutes or leave overnight
  7. Use a hair scarf to tie your hair over the plastic cap overnight

Tip: Sit under dryer for 20 mins for added or deeper penetration… Saturate ends of hair to help with split ends. Hair with Low porosity should def sit underneath heat to really open up the hair shaft.
